This road trip will take a full day, so plan on leaving early.
Morro Bay
Say you start from the 101 North, which will lead you all the way to the beautiful San Louis Obispo/Morro Bay (photo above). Morro Bay is a quiet little beach town by San Louis Obispo. You'll find some local restaurants that are absolutely perfect for breakfast. But if you're planning on really seizing the day, we suggest you grab a quick bite, take some pictures by Morro Rock, then get back on PCH and keep on heading north. While driving, make sure to absorb the amazing scenery of the Pacific ocean on your left and the rolling hills of San Louis Obispo county on your right. Oh and don't forget to stop at the Vista Points for some memories! In less than an hour, you will come across a small town called Cambria. It's a charming town that you do not want to miss, trust us!
While in Cambria, make sure to visit Main Street and spend some time in the antique stores, wine tasting rooms, old German church, local bookstore, and not to mention the various eateries. Explore and hurry off to San Simeon and the Hearst Castle. You can schedule your Castle Tours online on www.hearstcastle.org. This architectural wonder sits on one of San Simeon's hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was built by media tycoon William Randolph Hearst. Make sure that you start your tour with the National Geographic short film which they screen in their IMAX theatre. The tour should take 2-3 hours, and will take you through the Hearst estate and the heavenly Neptune Pool.
Your day should be ending around sunset time and it's always a good idea to make time for a last stop on PCH for more photos. Your trip back South should be smooth and should only take 3-4 hours to hit L.A, which will get you home just on time for dinner :)
